We recognize both approaches of disability inclusion as well as disability justice. Disability inclusion describes advancing access for and representation of Disabled people. Disability justice centers Disabled people while prioritizing those most historically excluded, such as Disabled people who also identify as women, people of color, immigrants, and LGBTQIA+.

We proudly identify as an Appalachian organization based on geographic area and culture. The Appalachian region consists of the Appalachian Mountains with 420 counties in 13 states: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Commonly shared values of Appalachia include love of place, independence, self-reliance, strong family ties, religion, and sense of justice, beauty, and humor.
